French Inspired: Madeleine’s

January 11 , 2012 by: Hong Food

Amongst many of my weaknesses are Madeleine’s. These little sponge-y shell shaped pieces of heaven can have me eating a dozen in less than five minutes. With the new addition of our Kitchen Aid I decided to test out my whipping and folding skills. My little guy even got in on the action and helped with the lemon zesting….Ten minutes into the baking, I opened up the oven and let out a high pitched shriek. To my amazement and delight they looked like they were suppose to! Imagine that…Thank you Kitchen Aid for assisting me in getting those peaks as the French do. How they did it by hand in the 19th century I will never understand. I’m just thankful I have access to such modern conveniences. If you would like to try your hand at these little delights, you can find the recipe I used here.

Bon Appetit!

  • Spent the weekend at anchor in Liberty Bay. These types of weekends alway remind me of how little we really need in life; nourishment, warmth, love, and a little attention. Happy Earth Day.
  • One of the things I love most about travel is the the discovery of universal languages such as food and an appreciation for culture. Some cities of course are better hosts than others at this but the discovery is part of the magic. This concludes my travel posts but I’ve decided to resurrect my blog to post more photos and tips specifically about Lisbon since some of you have inquired. More to come! ❤️
  • Lisbon; lively and busy but time stand stills. Modern with lots of character and respectful of traditions. Do yourself a favor and book your next trip to Lisbon. .
