We spent last weekend on the Hood Canal celebrating Independence Day. I was able to take a much needed extra long weekend vacation and nothing felt better than being able to enjoy the beach. There’s a quote that I love: “The cure for anything is salt water – sweat, tears, or the sea.”
This was so appropriate as my family received sad news on the 3rd of July. My maternal grandmother passed away. The only consoling factor was that she passed away at the age of 92 and lived a tremendously full life anchored by her family. So it was only appropriate that we spent the entire weekend as a family enjoying the beach.
Here’s The Geek enjoying his kite.
There was a lot of just lounging around and enjoying the scenery. How could you not, right?
I did actually manage to do something productive. Here’s the centerpiece for our Independence Day celebration. What do you think?
And just when I started to get the hang of our daily routine of sleeping in til nine, late breakfast, beach, late lunch, nap, beach, dinner, and beach again, it was time to head home.
We couldn’t have asked for better weather or company. It was wonderful to have all 25 of us in one place having so much fun doing absolutely nothing.
